What “partially used” means
A ticket is partially used when at least one ticketed flight coupon has been flown. The remaining open coupons can be subject to after-departure fare and exchange rules.
The remaining value is not necessarily half
Round-trip and international fares are not always priced as two equal one-way tickets. The value available for an exchange or refund must be calculated under the applicable fare rules.
Changing the return
Changing only the return after departure is a common partially used scenario. The ticketing source may need to reprice the remaining itinerary and collect any applicable difference, taxes or penalty.
Keep the original ticket information
Have the ticket number, flown itinerary, remaining flights and desired replacement itinerary ready. Avoid creating conflicting reservations while the original ticket is being reviewed.
